Event Information
The NIAID-sponsored CMCR program (Centers for Medical Countermeasures against Radiation) is holding a one-day Late Effects Workshop at the University of Pittsburgh on Friday, November 16, 2012. Co-Organizers, Dr. Joel Greenberger (University of Pittsburgh) and Dr. Jacky Williams (University of Rochester), invite your participation.
This event is intended for drug development researchers, both basic science and clinical researchers in the Radiation Research community, interested government and business leaders, and CMCR researchers.
The principal objective of this workshop is to examine the current state of radiation-induced late effects research as it applies across the biodefense field, and its potential application to the therapeutic fields. Specifically, this workshop aims to pair basic and clinical research presentations in order to highlight our understanding of common pathways. Comparing outcomes between preclinical modeling and experiences with human patients allows us to assess the current state of mitigating strategies in the field of normal tissue radiation exposure, while confirming the parallels between human and pre-clinical data.
Registration for this event is $75 and covers breakfast, lunch, two coffee breaks, supplies, and a percentage of anticipated poster session costs. This conference will take place in the Herberman Conference Center at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Shadyside Hospital Campus. Both the workshop venue and the hotels are wheelchair accessible, and assisted hearing devices as well as sign language interpretation are available for the workshop upon request. Furthermore, information on childcare and eldercare arrangements can be made available upon request.
Deadline for registration is Thursday, August 30, 2012
